Her name’s not Stella or Dot actually. The stunning woman behind the umbrella is Jennifer and she’s an independent stylist with Stella & Dot-a company that has definitely succeeded at creating gorgeous and unique jewelery. This was an extremely fun shoot-this girl is just so fun to be around. My goals were to 1. give Jenn portraits that made her feel as beautiful as she is and 2. showcase the jewelery so she can use the photos for any of her upcoming Stella & Dot events. We ventured downtown for the evening and caught some of that golden sunlight. Thanx Jenn for an “evening out on the town”.

August 10, 2010Mental Image
August 4, 2010Sometimes you just can’t capture every moment on film(or on a SD card). We are just left with the image in our heads-the one I always wished I could’ve captured-I can see it, I just can’t share it(unless I start painting again..hmm…maybe. After all, I have found myself with too much spare time lately). Anyway, I think maybe those are the best kind. We’re entitled to keeping something to ourselves every once in a while right? Even though people don’t! Ok, this one isn’t totally personal, I’m sure Tyler has a similar image.
On Sunday, Tyler and I were driving to church and we both looked up and pointed at the same time to two eagles sitting side by side in a gnarly old tree by the river. At church that evening, ironically, the sermon included a ‘better than animal planet’ lesson on eagles. What amazing creatures! And did you know they mate for life? And in my head, there they are, sitting at the top of the tree, beside the river, together. Then I hear Tyler say “I wonder how they determine which one is entitled to the first fish they see.” Anyway, of course I am now on the hunt to capture an eagle, or maybe a pair-with my camera of course. This post has no photo to accompany it.
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint. ~Isaiah 40:31
Child Portrait Session: Linden Turns One
July 26, 2010Well let’s just say that Linden warmed up to the chickens pretty quickly. I think his year of being one will hold some pretty incredible adventures after this exciting day. He had his family laughing during the shoot and now every time they take a look at the photos as well. I am thrilled that I could capture the moment for them. “Whoa chicken”.

Family Portrait Session: Natalie & Riley
July 26, 2010These two are just adorable. This was definitely the kissiest(I know it’s not a word) shoot I’ve ever done. Oh how he loves his Mama. And oh how his Mama can make him giggle.

Portrait Session: Ashley Jacobs
July 26, 2010This little lady is Kamloops’ next hottest thing. Her amazing voice has been heard at a few nights of music in the park in the past couple years. She has recently just finished her first CD and so she called on me to help her out with a photo for the cover. Congrats Ash on your accomplishments thus far.

Austen: Little Bear
July 20, 2010Austen is of course older now but these photos were taken at 7 weeks. I had this winter outfit that I knew wouldn’t fit him this winter so I decided to put it on him anyway. I love the faces babies make.

It all Starts with a Dream
July 19, 2010My husband and I have a sailing dream. We’ve never learned & we’ve actually never been on a sail boat but still the dream has formulated in our heads somehow. We’ve recently gotten movies from the library about families that have sailed around the world, with small children. We would like to wait till our children are a little older, giving us time to learn how to sail I guess. So to start our adventure we decided to purchase two one-person(& a child) sailboats! We’ve taken them out a few times now and are planning our next larger purchase, which probably wouldn’t be for the next few years, but until then, I’m sure our children and ourselves will enjoy summers camping and sailing on the lakes. We all have dreams that seem unobtainable but every adventure has to start somewhere right?

Of course, all spouses of photographers learn how to use the camera! This photo, which I absolutely love of my daughter and I, was taken by my husband.
Child Portrait Session: Nino
July 19, 2010I forgot how busy one-year-olds can be! And of course how sweet: picking flowers for their one and only love-Mama.
